Down, But Not Out
I was thinking about Clinton's victory over Obama in Nevada during my run this afternoon and it got me down. Not too much, because I still have hope that the majority of the voting public (or at least the majority of delegates) will look to the future and not the past. Still, Clinton's playing gender and race cards effectively, it seems, while Obama is still trying to rise above the politics of division. I guess it's what the Clintons know and what works -- Hispanics aren't voting for Obama and blacks are turning away from her. She's winning over women while he's winning over younger voters. And all of it just turns my stomach. All the machinations and triangulation. It's just so petty. I really want a campaign that focuses on real issues, but unless South Carolina breaks big for Obama, it appears as if fear and loathing are here to stay for another presidential cycle.
That and Kona paid attention to everything but me during the run.
